Hari Raya also known as Bulan Puasa or Hari Raya Puasa marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting and abstinence, Ramadan. Hari Raya is the term used for Ramazan Eid in Malaysia. Indonesia and Singapore.
This day is more commonly known as Eid-ul-Fitr or Ramzan Eid in most parts of the world.
“Hari Raya” literally translates in to “Day of Celebration”.
In 2012 Hari Raya will be celebrated on 19th August 2012.
On this day, people greet each other saying “Selamat Idul Fitri” ( in Indonesia) or “Salam Aidilfitri” or “Selamat Hari Raya” (in Malaysia) which means “Happy Eid”. Muslims also greet one another with “mohon maaf lahir dan batin” in Indonesia and “maaf zahir dan batin” in Malaysia, which means “Forgive my physical and emotional (wrongdoings)”, because Idul Fitri is not only for celebrations but also a time for atonement: to ask for forgiveness for sins which they may have committed but was cleansed as a result of the fasting in the Muslim month of Ramadan.
