‘London Booster’ – a double decker bus designed by Czech artist David Cerny which does pushups has been installed outside the Czech Olympic headquarters in Islington, London.
Yes, its true a red coloured double decker bus doing pushups.
The giant structure is built around a 1957 Bristol bus, which once plied the streets of London. Weighing 6.5 tonnes, the artwork performs push-ups with the aid of giant hydraulic arms and consumes 90 kilowatts of energy each hour.
Czech artist David Cerny says he has brought his red double decker bus to London to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games and encourage “fat Americans” to exercise to get skinnier.
He designed the bus doing pushups as it was one of the common exercises that every sportsman in the world does.
The mechanisms inside the double decker London Booster makes the 6-tonne bus move up and down on bright red arms, raising the chassis into various angles, accompanied by recordings of a groaning voice and video projections in the windows.
