Finally the rain gods have arrived and presently it is raining heavily in Mumbai and surrounding areas, including Thane and Raigad.
These heavy rains have disrupted rail and road traffic.
Trains on the Western, Central Railway and the Harbour Line in Mumbai are running late by 10-15 minutes delaying millions of commuters.
Air traffic at the Mumbai airport, however, remained largely unaffected.
Also there have been reports of waterlogging in some low-lying areas of Mumbai including – Dadar, Matunga, Hindmata, Milan Subway in Santa Cruz, etc.
Commuters traveling by roads, however, reported traffic jams in some parts of the city.
Till 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Colaba and Santacruz observatories recorded 48.6 mm and 76.3 mm of rainfall, respectively, according to the Weather Bureau.
The bureau has forecast heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and surrounding areas for the next 48 hours.
Also Mumbai has been alerted that High Tide is likely to hit at 12.50 pm today July 4 2012 (Tuesday). Tides can reach a height of 4.29 meters (around 13 feet).
