Shab-E-Barat – Lailatul Bara’at Prayers

Shab-E-Barat also known as Mid-Sha’ban or Lailatul Bara’at is the 15th day of the 8th month (Sha’ban) of the Islamic lunar calendar.

Prayers for Shab-E-Barat :

Shab e Barat is marked by saying special prayers to the Almighty asking for forgiveness for past sins and prosperity for the future. These are the recommended prayers for the occasion:

Nawafil for Shab-e-Baraat

Read 6 rakaat Nafl prayer (2+2+2), after Magrib. After every two rakaats read Surah Yaseen once. This prayer is asking for a healthy and prosperous life for the whole year, from the Almighty.

Read 12 rakaat nafl prayer, in each rakaat read:
Surah Fatiha (Alhamdo) : once,
Surah Iklas: 10 times.
After you have rerad the abovementioned prayers, read:
3rd Kalima : 10 times
4th Kalima : 10 times
Darood Sharif : 100 times

Read 8 rakaat nafl prayer with one salaam only.
In each rakaat read
Surah Fatiha once and Surah Iklas: 11 times.

Read this dua :
Allahumma inni al-aloka afwa wal afiyata wal muafatad-daimata fid dunya wal akhirah.

Read 100 rakaat naflt prayer reciting in each rakaat reciting :
Surah Fatiha (Alhamdo) : once,
Surah Iklas: 10 times.

It is believed that Allah forgives the past sins and allows for a prosperous future for those who asks for it at this time with their prayers. The day is meant for fasting, while the night for prayers and celebrations.
