Sand Sculptures on 2012 Jagannath Rath Yatra Chariot on Puri Beach – Sudarsan Pattnaik

Every during the time of Annual Jagannath Rath Yatra, Sand Sculpture Artist Sudarshan Pattnaik and his team dedicates a sand sculpture to Lord Jagannath at the Puri Rath Yatra.

The sand chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Subhadra were done by the famous sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik to celebrate the 2012 Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra which commenced on 21st June 2012.

In the photo seen above, Sudarsan Pattnaik recreated three chariots on a Sankha (shell) and an image of lord Jagannath on sand at Sankha Kshetra Puri, Odisha.

The 15ft long sand Shankha, three chariots and Lord Jagannath were created using colour sand. It took 5hrs, using 12 tones of sand to complete the sculpture. The sculpture was completed with the help of students of Sand institute.
