Parashurama, is the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. Shri Parashurama was born in the nineteenth Tretayug. He is the son of a Brahmin father Jamadagni and mother Renuka in Hindu mythology.
His physical appearance can be described as having a mammoth physique, matted hair on the head, bow on the shoulder and holding an Axe (Parashu) in the hand.
He is considered one of the seven immortal (Chiranjivi) humans.
Parashurama is said to be a Brahmakshatriya (“warrior Brahman”), the first warrior saint. Parashurama is worshiped as a Founder (Mool Purush) of Chitpavan and Daivadnya Brahmin Communities.
Parshuram is referred in many texts namely the Bhagavatam, Mahabharata, Kalaki purana and Ramayana. There is description in these texts saying that Parshuram is an avesha avatar.
