Mumbai Monsoon 2016 : Once again several areas of Mumbai and Thane were waterlogged as heavy rains lashed onto the city.
Just first rain has taken toll of Mumbai by waterlogging many areas of the city, people are wondering what is ahead in store for them as monsoon picks up.
According to a weather department official, in last 12 hurs till Saturday evening, Colaba (south Mumbai) recorded 95.6 mm of rainfall, Santacruz (in the western suburbs) recorded rainfall of 166.6 mm and the eastern suburbs received 45.8 mm of rainfall.
Many areas including Parel, Hindmata, Milan Subway, Worli, Dadar, Santacruz, Andheri, Malad, Kandivli, Ghatkopar and Vikhroli faced heavy waterlogging, causing inconvenience to people.
Road traffic had to be diverted through alternative routes due to water-logging in low-lying areas of the city. Local train services were also running late by 10 minutes on both western and central railway.
Most flights to and from Mumbai also saw a delay of 15-30 minutes owing to poor visibility. The visibility at the airport was only 900 metres during the heavy rains.
As many as Twenty four incidents of tree falling were also reported from different parts of city and suburbs.
The temperature in the city dropped considerably from a minimum of over 31 degrees Celsius Thursday to 25 degrees Celsius Saturday, bringing a sigh of relief to Mumbaites.
