On this Republic Day, 26th January 2012, much awaited movie of the year – Agneepath is going to be released. The movie is remake of 1990 Bollywood crime film directed by Mukul Anand which featured Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavi, and Rohini Hattangadi, with Danny Dengzongpa as the villain.
The 2012 Agneepath features Hrithik Roshan in role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif.
The promo’s and the item song of the movie Chikni Chameli are famous amongst fans. Fans are eager to watch Hrithik Roshan in different expressions of the sulks and the bald and bad Sanjay Dutt as his bĂŞte noire
From the trailers, Agneepath looks like the most non-Dharma Productions film from the production house in a very very long time. It looks dark, edgy, violent, and gritty, a far cry from the saccharine romantic comedies that has been Johar’s modus operandi for over a decade.
Agneepath is considered as a classic, even though it flopped at the box office. Lets see whether Karan Johar’s Agneepath perform in a better manner at the box-office.

Agneepath is about a small town boy (Amitabh) whose father is killed and he comes to Bombay to seek revenge on his father’s death. After his father’s death, the boy becomes the bread-winner for the family and follows the path of crime to support his mother (Rohini Attangadi) and sister (Neelam). Later in the film, he meets Mithun Chakraborthy who plays the role of Amitabh’s confidant (though it is a little overdone) and later falls in love with Neelam. Amitabh slowly builds a massive crime empire but his own weaknesses lead to his downfall. Danny Dengzoppa plays the bad guy who wants total supremacy over the mafia and will do anything to eliminate Amitabh.
One can expect the story of Karan Johar’s Agneepath on same lines…

The first version of ‘Agneepath’ in the year 1990 was not a success at the box office despite a great critical response. Now the question ahead of Republic Day Release is whether the new ‘Agneepath’ be successful at the Box Office ?
