The first season of  Bangladesh Premier League will start from 9th of February 2012 and the finals of the tournament will be played on 29th February 2012.

Format of the Tournament :

The competition will start with a double round robin group stage, in which each of the 6 teams will play against every other team twice. These matches will followed by two semi-finals and a final.

A tournament will have a total of 33 matches out of which 25 matches will be played in Dhaka and the remaining 8 matches will be held in Chittagong.

Teams and Franchises :

Matches will be held in Dhaka and Chittagong with a total of six franchises taking part. The franchises will represent Dhaka, Barisal, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna divisions.

Names of the teams are : Duronto Rajshahi, Dhaka Gladiators, Barisal Burners, Chittagong Kings, Sylhet Royals and Khulna Royal Bengal.

Opening Ceremony of 2012 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) :

Bangladesh Premier league opening ceremony will be of two and half hours. The culture and history of freedom fighting of Bangladesh will be display in this show. For BPL opening ceremony, popular bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor,Deepika Padukone are likely to be present. The popular singers Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan will also arrive Dhaka in that time for BPL.

India’s most eye-catching singer Shreya Ghoshal will perform in the tournament kick off show.
