With the mega Indian Premier League auction slated for January 27 and 28, the Royal Challengers Bangalore management on Monday confirmed their coaching staff led by head coach Daniel Vettori, who has been at the helm since 2014.
Former coach of the world cup winning Indian cricket team Gary Kirsten , it is learnt, signed on the dotted line last week. He has been named the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s batting coach for the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. This will be Kirsten’s second stint in the IPL after his three-year contract was cut short to a year by Delhi Daredevils in 2015.
Recently-retired pacer Ashish Nehra has been named the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling coach for the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League.
With the vision of long-term development of the squad and bringing in fresh talent from across the country, the franchisee has realigned the roles of Trent Woodhill and Andrew McDonald.
Another Australian Andrew McDonald, who joined the RCB set-up last season, will handle bowling talent development and analytics.
“I am excited to welcome Gary and Ashish to the coaching team for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both of them bring a wealth of experience in cricket, which the team can learn from immensely. We look forward to an amazing season.” – Daniel Vettori
